Know the source.

Project information starts with a meaningful record: a room, a requirement, a specification or a drawing.

Structure the information

Give each record a stable identity, a source and a version. A spreadsheet row or a filename should never be its only identity.

Keep intent and reality distinct

Room data defines what is required. A model describes what is currently designed. Compare the two without silently overwriting either.

Reuse the record

Link the same room or requirement into tasks, reviews and boards. Change its authoritative record rather than maintaining separate copies.

Illustrative workflow

A room requirement is not a model measurement.

A synthetic meeting-room example has a target area of 32 m² and a measured area of 30 m². InkDot keeps both facts, their units and their sources. The difference becomes a review item, not an automatic model edit.

Requirements are authored in room-data workflows; actual geometry remains in the model authoring tool.
